Can you have sex during Ramadan? The fasting period is a time to consecrate yourself by feeding your spirit instead of your flesh. This is why you’re not expected to eat until sun down and why you must also stop satisfying some fleshly desires and sex is one of them.
You already know that this question is not for unmarried people. So can a man and his wife have sex during Ramadan? The answer is yes, they can. But they can’t have sex during the hours of fasting. They can only have sex when they break their fast.
Here’s what the Quran has to say about having sex during Ramadan:
It has been made lawful for you to go in to your wives during the night of the fast. They are your garment, and you are theirs. Allah knows that you used to betray yourselves and He mercifully relented and pardoned you. So you may now associate intimately with your wives and benefit from the enjoyment Allah has made lawful for you, and eat and drink at night until you can discern the white streak of dawn against the blackness of the night; then (give up all that and) complete your fasting until night sets in. [Surat al-Baqarah:187]
However, according to Muslim scholars, it’s okay to kiss, hug or touch your husband intimately while fasting. This will not invalidate your fast as long as it doesn’t get to the point of intercourse or ejaculation.
So there’s your answer, you can have sex with your husband during Ram adan but only when you’ve broken your fast for the day. Do you have any other Ramadan tips to share with us? Drop them in the box below.
